JOB SUMMARY:

The primary objective of the Welder position is to accurately and efficiently weld metal components and fabricate plastic assemblies according to print specifications in a timely manner to meet customer requirements and the production schedule. This includes fabricating standard parts, as well as custom parts, building complete products, and inspecting the work performed to meet internal and external requirements.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to determine fabrication requirements
  • Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and shaping them to ensure proper fit and optimal welding conditions
  • Perform welding operations using various techniques, including MIG and TIG welding, to join and fabricate metal components, boxes, cabinets, and frames according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Select and prepare plastic materials for welding, ensuring they are clean and free from defects
  • Operate hand and power tools, such as grinders and cutters, to shape and trim plastic components as required
  • Fabricate plastic piece parts, turntables, cabinets, and fusion assemblies, and perform solvent welding and other tasks as assigned
  • Inspect welded components for quality assurance, ensuring they meet internal company and external customer quality expectations, and make necessary adjustments or repairs as needed
  • Use job knowledge to continuously improve the quality and cost of welded products
  • Work closely with the fabrication team, including project managers, engineers, and other welders, to ensure efficient workflow, meet project deadlines, and resolve any welding-related issues or challenges
  • Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including material usage, production rates, and any issues or defects encountered during the welding process
  • Help to ensure the products we manufacture meet or exceed customer quality expectations
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules to ensure on-time deliveries, working closely with production scheduler
  • Take the initiative to identify and implement improvements to our processes along with the products we deliver
  • Follow all safety procedures, along with 5S standards
  • Participate as an active team member and be willing to cross-train as required (i.e. assembly, factory-acceptance, control panel, and shipping and receiving areas)
  • Train and assist others as required
  • Adhere to and follow all Company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate or diploma in welding or related field or equivalent work experience in welding/fabrication
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and supervision and effectively plan, organize, and execute own activities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, vendors and colleagues
  • Ability to read and interpret technical prints and drawings without assistance
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment necessary for duties performed
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to weld in all positions and work with all types of plastic materials
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction and feedback
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem-solve
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • General knowledge of/experience with plumbing
  • General knowledge of/experience with electrical wiring
  • Past work experience in mechanical assembly
